This is a brilliant series with 15 episodes, which was made by the BBC in 2010, but only run for one series. This was a great shame and a loss to the study of architecture in the UK and its meaning.

It was presented by Dr Jonathan Foyle and climber Lucy Creamer and they explored these buildings through climbing up and inside them to give you a very unique insight into their meaning and design.
For those who want to use Architecture, Urban Design and Design and the Built Environment as their context to their teaching, this is essential viewing, with some episodes more than others
Finally, someone has uploaded them onto YouTube, so we can now all enjoy this wonderful programme
The 3 most important ones for me are:
- Imperial War Museum North
A great study which explains the design behind the project and how materials are used to enhance the experience and echo the war it explains.
- Glasgow School of Art
An essential programme to see now that the building has been lost. All the detail is explained as well as the symbolism of the design and its functionality.
- Lloyd’s Building
Design at its very best, where tradition and the future go hand in hand. Its clever design is explained by Rogers himself and shows what an intuitive architect he is.
