Assignments – Contextual Design

These are in four sections:

A range of longer tasks, supported by studying some aspect of the design world, to then be applied to a design situation.

A range of short tasks, based upon case studies. These can be used as starters or home learning, they give students time to reflect and pull out information for future designing

A range of tasks to be done outside lessons, requiring students to investigate and reflect upon at a range of design concepts, movements and outcomes.

Aimed at older students, getting them to reflect on the more difficult and deeper aspects of design as well as reflecting upon the impact these can make.

Click on the link above. This assignment focuses upon creating a brand for the student’s design company. It also introduces students to the Design Industry and the possible jobs and careers available. An excellent assignment to introduce students to both the subject, careers and its opportunities and possibilities.

Contextual Design – Reflection Assignments

A range of reflection tasks to help student look at the wider, and sometimes, difficult issues with regards to design. These are challenging and aimed at older students, but with a little adjustment and preparation, these can be used within KS4 as well.
